FROM THE DESK OF THE GLOBAL PRESIDENT
I welcome you to the official website of Egbu Girls Old Girls Association (EGOGA). It is our pleasure to connect with you here and share some information on our journey in EGOGA.
We remain steadfast on our commitment to giving back to our dear Alma Mater, Egbu Girls’ Secondary School, Egbu Owerri (EGSS). This website affords us the opportunity of letting you know our story so far.
EGOGA came into existence in 2018. Our main objective was to work with the proprietor of the school, The Lord Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu, The Rt. Revd. Geoffrey Okorafor, to improve infrastructure and environmental ambience thereby upgrading the school and taking it to lofty heights.
The little mustard seed that was planted in 2018 has blossomed into a veritable Association with over 350 members, executing numerous activities and projects.
Over the years, we have made significant progress towards our major objectives. Firstly, we commissioned a survey of the Dormitory premises of the School. Secondly, we erected a perimeter fence of the Dormitory compound which was dedicated during our Maiden Global Reunion in 2019. Thirdly, an Architectural landscape of the premises was also designed to guide future infrastructural developments in the Dormitory Premises.
In addition to these, the individual Chapters and Class Sets have made several contributions towards our vision. They include:
a. Grading of Access Road to the School by Late Sir Sams Uchegbu’s family
b. Signage and Entrance Gate by Lolo Dorothy Ihenacho
c. Provision of Toilets in the Dormitory by Her Excellency, Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu
d. Provision of Dinning Tables, Chairs and Water Tank by Class of 1982
e. A kitchen for the School by Class of 1983
f. Exercise Books by Lagos Chapter
g. Construction of the Security Post by Class of 1991
h. Renovation of Classrooms by North America Chapter
All these are clearly detailed in the 60th Anniversary Compendium of EGSS which was published in 2022 powered by EGOGA.
Currently, EGOGA Global is building an Ultra Modern Hostel for the Students.
We call on all Alumni of EGSS and all other stakeholders to join in this arduous but worthy task of uplifting our Alma Mater.
Long Live EGSS
Long Live EGOGA
Long Live Anglican Diocese Of Egbu
Long Live Egbu Ancient Kingdom
Mrs. Ijeoma Enekwa
